We are looking for a Lab Engineer for our Thermoformed Biocomposites Business department. You will be working in the Packaging Solutions Division and you will report to the Business Director of Thermoforming. Location: Hyltebruk.

The Biocomposites team is constantly developing new materials and products to meet customers and consumers’ needs. Our dedicated team in Hyltebruk is now looking for a Lab Engineer to complement our team, ready to develop technology and process for new renewable and recyclable packaging solutions, together with experts in material and barrier development. Our dedication in making a difference together with eagerness to innovate will result in attractive eco-friendly products that strengthen Stora Enso’s opportunities to replace fossil-based products and contribute to combat the global problem of plastic waste.
Responsibility
The purpose of this position is to be one of the drivers in R&D projects for new materials and products to replace plastics. You will focus on lab testing of material, barriers and processes related to products for single or multiple use and bring the technologies from lab to pilot to full-scale.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
• participate in developing new materials, barriers and technologies within the Formed Biocomposite roadmap
• plan and execute lab trials related to project technologies
• test materials according to internal and external standards as well as self-developed methods
• document executed work
• present results and conclusions to colleagues and management
• contribute with ideas and give input to research projects.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you have a relevant university background in for example engineering, material science or chemistry. You preferably have at least 2-3 years of relevant work experience in one or more of the following fields:
• Industrial or experimental material processing and forming
• Industrialisation of processes
• Paper & pulp manufacturing or research
• Materials testing or other experimental work
• Experimental planning and evaluation
• Handling of advanced technical equipment.
You are a highly driven and self-motivated individual with the ability to work with flexibility, accuracy and independence. You also have the ability to assess technical feasibility of new technologies and plan how to prove specific aspects in lab scale. You enjoy working in a lab environment with different types of people and varying tasks. Your creative yet structured mindset allows you to quickly draw conclusions on the result of your work in relation to project goals. You have a typical engineer mindset using structured parameter variation to understand aspects and come to conclusions. You are proficient in English, preferably also in Swedish.
