Who are we?

The Vehicle team within the V.A.S. Technology organization is responsible for vehicles, machines, trailers and safety systems in V.A.S. autonomous customer solutions. We take part in all life cycle phases, from the early specification and development phases throughout the maintenance and quality phases during customer operation. We interact closely with colleagues in Group Trucks Technology (GTT) & Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE) to secure base vehicle and machine readiness. We then develop and integrate the on-board autonomous driving systems and the off-board safety systems. It is our responsibility to ensure that the vehicles and machines can be operated by the autonomous driving system in a good and safe manner.
Position description
As a lab hardware engineer you will together with other talented engineers work in the Concept Vehicle Lab.
For our early stage concepts and prototype vehicles, the team is responsible for integration and installation of our hardware automation kit into our target solutions such as e.g. sensors, actuators, ECUs, computers, brackets and harnesses. Also supporting other teams with e.g. fault tracing and hardware knowledge is an important task.
You will also participate and contribute to the continuous improvement work of the Concept Vehicle Lab possessing high-end machinery for mechanical prototype manufacturing, 3D printing and electrical workshop.

Qualifications
We believe that you are the kind of engineer that not only have great strive for developing and understanding new technologies, but also wants to realize your ideas by hands-on work in a lab.
You are solutions oriented and have a structured way of working and since we are certain that effort of a team is larger than se sum of individuals. Your solution-oriented mindset and service-mindedness in combination with customer focus will be a high asset for this role.
Other requirements that we also see as beneficiary for the role are:
Experience of working hands-on with vehicles
Experience of mechanical manufacturing, e.g. CNC machinery and tools
Experience in working with and fault tracing vehicle electrical systems
Excellent in Swedish and English
Driving license C and CE are a merit
Experience of Volvo systems and processes are a merit
