Job description
ABC Labs is a start-up created in Spring 2020 as a direct response to the unprecedented challenges of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in order to quickly scale up Swedish national testing capacity and create an automated infrastructure for producing cost-effective diagnostics at scale. Built in 7 weeks, we now represent approximately 20% of COVID-19 testing in Sweden and have partnered with the Public Health Agency of Sweden, a majority of Swedish Regions, and almost all large private care providers to rollout mass testing across the country. 

Located at Biomedicum on Campus Solna, ABC’s laboratory relies heavily on robotics  and automation of all ancillary processes to conduct analyses including PCR, ELISA, ELISpot, and Next Generation Sequencing. 

ABC labs now has an open position for the role as lab manager. Main objective for this function will be to manage and plan operational activities related to laboratory processes and deliveries.




Responsibilities
In this role, you will be main responsible for the organization and operations of the laboratory, including most notably: 


Employer responsibility for a team of >60 people including specialist technicians, technicians, and laboratory assistants - including recruitments, performance review, coaching, and development & growth initiatives. 
Ensuring efficient functioning of the laboratory 24/7, including shift-planning and creating logistical and delivery schedules.
Implement, monitor, and help adjust quality management processes and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols as set out by QA manager. 


Qualifications
For this role, we are searching for someone with a degree in life science, engineering or experience of advanced management in a similar space - i.e. experience from a high-growth clinical diagnostic laboratory or quality control laboratory. 

Exceptional leadership skills are required. Furthermore we believe you have the following experience and skills:


Previous experience from leading large teams preferably with both shift and non-shift structure.
Knowledge of laboratory quality standards and requirements in accordance with local legislations / authorities. 
Fluent and comfortable in speaking and writing in both Swedish and English (company language is English). 

We believe you are someone who enjoys operational leadership and to build larger teams of diverse skills and experiences. As the lab is relatively new and is developing at a fast pace, it is important that you are adaptable, collaborative and can see opportunities for improvement. With us, the pace can occasionally be high, and it is therefore important that you are result-driven and enjoy working efficiently and with high quality. As a person, you are structured, thorough and communicative with a quality focused mindset.
