AstraZeneca Presentation For an assignment at AstraZeneca we are searching for a Laboratory engineer. The assignment ends May 1, 2009 with start as soon as possible. The assignment might very well be extended after this initial period. Applications will be handled upon arrival and the position filled as soon as we find the right candidate. Arbetsuppgifter The Lead Finding Team is responsible for development of primary and secondary assays and iterative screening of compound series in the lead identification phase using automated and semi-automated methods. The Lead Finding Team works closeley with the Hit Finding and Lead optimisation teams and represents a key component in AstraZeneca's drug discovery strategy. Utbildning/erfarenhet The ideal candidate requires strong theoretical and practical experience in biochemistry and pharmacology, good computing and large volume data management skills as well as hands-on screening experience using advanced laboratory automation equipment. You should have an academic or equivalent degree in a bioscience discipline and subsequently at least 3 years of working experience within that discipline. Collaboration skills are essential. Previous experience in a pharmaceutical or clinical lab is desirable. Key attributes: - demonstrated skills in receptor pharmacology, enzyme kinetics and cell biology (both theoretical and practical) is essential - experience with development of biological assays (receptor, enzyme and ion-channel targets) in multiple plate formats and operating semi- and fully automated systems - experience with, and an interest in the handling and interpretation of large volumes of biological data - knowledge of the lead generation and drug discovery process is desirable - excellent communication skills combined with problem solving, goal oriented and team-working attitude are essential.
