We are looking for a laboratory assistant in chemistry for a fixed-term position at the School of Science and Technology, Unit for Natural Science.
Background
The Man-Technology-Environment (MTM) Research Centre focuses on applied research on the environment, health and sustainable development. We are looking for a laboratory assistant in chemistry in the microplastics research group that can support the ongoing research.
Duties and responsibilities
The laboratory assistant will mainly work in research projects studying the occurrence of microplastics in environmental samples. The work consists of analysis of microplastics according to existing protocols, but it might also be necessary to perform some method development. Part of the laboratory work will also be dedicated to microplastic leaching experiments and toxicity testing.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with a bachelor or master’s degree in chemistry or other environmental sciences. Experience from analysis of microplastics in environmental samples is an advantage as well as experience in maintaining and working with plankton cultures. Experience and knowledge of FTIR spectroscopy is a merit.
You must have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English. The ability to work both independently and in groups, as well as work quality-consciously and be responsible, is a requirement. Great value is on the candidates expressed ambition to learn and take responsibility for the work.
Information
This is a fixed-term full-time position for 6 months, with a possibility for extension. At Örebro University, salary depends on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
