Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences Department of Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Public Health Laboratory Engineer SLU develops the understanding and sustainable use of biological natural resources.This is achieved through research, teaching, environmental monitoring and assessment and information extension.SLU has 3 000 employees, 5 000 undergraduate and postgraduate students.Main campuses are located at Alnarp, Skara, Uppsala and Umeå.The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science is one of four faculties at SLU with 500 employees and 1000 bachelor, master and doctorate students.The Faculty office and most of the departments are located in Uppsala, but important research and teaching activities are also carried out in Skara. www.slu.se Applications are invited for a six months?Laboratory Engineer position (with a possibility for prolongation) at the Joint Research and Development Division of the Virology Departments of SLU and the National Veterinary Institute (SVA).The activities of the division include education and research in veterinary public health and extend from practical laboratory diagnostics and combating of infectious diseases to studies of the detailed mechanisms behind diseases.The division provides a good working environment for research and development with the aim to develop advanced molecular tools to address important diagnostic problems as well as virological questions on a more fundamental level.The work will concern modern molecular biology techniques and the successful candidate should have an exam in molecular biology preferably with microbiology focus and good knowledge of recent developments of biotechnology.The applicant should be proficient in techniques such as PCR, cloning and sequencing.Experience of cell work, viral transfection and protein expression assays is an advantage. Moreover, the candidate should be able to work independently as well as possess good interpersonal skills.
