Laboratory Engineer

QIAGEN DNA Synthesis AB (formerly SGS DNA AB) in Sweden, has produced high quality synthetic DNA for diagnostic purposes for more than 30 years. We are situated in Västerås and have around 100 employees. We apply the medical device directives, ISO13485 (EU) and 21CFR820 (USA). Our production is carried out in accordance with GMP.
Our production department in Västerås employs teams of competent and motivated Laboratory Assistants and Laboratory Engineers divided into 4 departments. As part of our expansion, we are now looking for more Laboratory Engineers.
You will work in our Quality Control department with a focus on ensuring the quality and integrity of our synthetic DNA products using techniques including HPLC and mass spectrometry.
Both the laboratory work and associated documentation work take place in accordance with GMP. As a Laboratory Engineer, you will also have an area with responsibility for conducting LEAN improvements for your team. You will be part of a team with both Laboratory Engineers and Laboratory Assistants. The competence within the team is high and so is the team spirit which makes it easy to fit in as a new employee.
Position requirements
- Good knowledge of English and Swedish, both orally and in writing. Please note the day-to-day language on site is Swedish.
- University degree or equivalent experience with a focus on Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology or similar. Experience of HPLC and/or mass spectrometry would be an advantage but is not essential as full training is available.
- Employment experience as a Laboratory Technician or similar - experience of GMP and LEAN would be advantageous.
- Proven ability to work safely both in terms of product quality and from a chemical handling point of view.
- Ability to work in a structured and flexible manner with occasional high workloads and repetitive tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills – a genuine team player with a positive outlook on life.
