Avantor Services is now recruiting a Laboratory Manager to join their growing Laboratory Management (LM) team for a permanent position at AstraZeneca Gothenburg. Avantor Services provide a broad variety of on-site laboratory services for major pharmaceutical customers and work collaboratively with clients to provide the resources necessary to deliver core scientific activities. As a Laboratory Manager you will be part of a skilled and collaborative LM team with responsible for the day-to-day operational management of a defined set of laboratories by providing a single point of contact for scientists with expertise in tissue biology. To allow the scientists and laboratory staff to practice core scientific activities in a high performance culture you are expected to:

• Act as the first point of contact for all research staff within the laboratories.
• Liaise with AstraZeneca’s facilities management team, suppliers, senior stakeholders and scientists ensuring continuity of key services and efficient communication and information sharing.
• Monitoring and maintenance of equipment as well as laboratory resources to ensure a safe and secure working environment.
• Performs staff inductions & training and handles external visitor management and customer meetings.
• Work with the scientists and on-site service providers to identify future requirements and new innovations in technology to further enhance scientific capability within the function.
• Assists in development of work instructions for various processes in the lab particularly focused on reagents/consumables and cost saving recommendations.
• Facilitate laboratory consumable inventories and provides reports to the different department’s leadership team as requested.

Vem är du?
In order to understand the instruments and the scientists working in the provided laboratories you should ideally hold a PhD degree in tissue biology or equivalent. You should also have experience of working in a laboratory environment with previous laboratory management or coordination responsibility. Knowledge of histology and human tissue handling is of great advantage as well as an interest in microscopy.

To enjoy and be successful in this role you should be a positive people-person with high energy and drive, who likes coordinate multiple tasks and finding solutions. Strong communication skills in English are key in this role as well as an understanding of different cultures. You need to be comfortable to take initiatives and make clear decisions in a matrix environment. By nature, you are service-minded, organized and like change management.
