Laboratory Technician, Biomaterials Innovation in Sickla

We are looking for a laboratory technician to Pulp Innovation, one of our Innovation Platforms situated at our Innovation Centre for Biomaterials in Sickla. You will be working in the Biomaterials Division and you will report to the R&D Manager. The position is temporary, lasting one year.

Fluff pulp is used mainly as absorption material in diapers and feminine hygiene products, but also for fabric-like napkins and table tops made of so-called airlaid nonwoven. Stora Enso is Europe's largest manufacturer of fluff pulp and the pulp is produced at our Skutskär mill situated north of Stockholm. The development and innovation of our fluff pulp takes place at Biomaterials Innovation in Sickla (Stockholm) in close cooperation with the operations in Skutskär.
The Role
Your responsibilities and tasks are to:
· Plan and perform experimental work, mainly material and product testing according to standardized methods.
· Evaluate and modify test methods.
· Document and evaluate experimental data and communicate the results in written form as well as orally.
· Be responsible for that laboratory and test equipment is in good condition.
· Be responsible for safety at your own work and ensure that safety procedures in the laboratory are followed.

Qualifications
Who are you? You have science or technical education from at least upper secondary school and experience of laboratory-work and/or work in the Pulp, Paper or Hygiene Industry. You are an experienced user of Microsoft Office and have good skills in the English language.
As a person, you are accurate, structured and appreciate working independently in a laboratory environment. You will be part of a team that works with development and innovation projects and therefore it is of great importance to be a good team player and to communicate actively with others. You are curious, take responsibility for your own development as well as your tasks.

The Biomaterials division offers a wide variety of pulp grades to meet the demands of paper, board, tissue, textile and hygiene product producers. We maximise the business potential of the side streams of our processes, such as tall oil and turpentine from biomass. Based on our strong innovation approach, all fractions of biomass, like lignin and sugars, hold potential for use in various applications.
