Avalanche Studios is the division dedicated to ambitious, externally published, AAA open world games like Just Cause, Mad Max, and Rage 2 - our upcoming title Contraband is a co-op smuggler’s paradise set in the fictional world of 1970s Bayan.
Contraband is a brand new IP published by Xbox Game Studios, and we are looking for a senior programmer with automation experience to take a key role in our DevOps team at the Stockholm or New York office.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of build and test automation engineers
- Contribute to Contrand’s overall DevOps strategy and help with its technical and organizational implementation
- Form and drive the implementation of Contraband’s automation strategy
- Enable the Contraband team to reliably and efficiently deliver builds of the game, both internally and externally
- Support code and build quality improvement initiatives across all Contraband programming teams
- Continuously work to improve overall code architecture to help increase testability
- Coach programmers in good practices for writing automated tests
- Identify and suggest solutions to pain points in the workflow for creating automated tests
- Write requirements and suggest improvements for our centrally developed test automation framework
- Evangelize the benefits of automated testing within Avalanche Studios
Personal Qualities
- Passionate about DevOps and automated testing
- Resourceful and possesses a "can do" attitude
- Attention to details and ability to work carefully
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken
- Desire to lead and mentor other programmers
Required Qualifications
- Game industry experience working as a Programmer, Build Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer or similar at Senior or Principal level
- Great understanding of AAA build pipelines
- Experience with Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or other cloud computing platform
- Experience with several test automation frameworks
- Experience with Perforce or another major source control system
- Experience with a scripting language (e.g. C#, Python, shell)
- Experience with Jenkins or other major CI tool
- Able to write readable, robust, and performant C++ code, and review the work of others
Beneficial Qualifications
- Experience with PlayFab, Xbox Live, Steam or other platform-specific online services and APIs
- Experience shipping console games
- Experience working with proprietary engines
- Experience with profiling and optimization
