We are looking for someone who like to work in a design area that need to fulfil many demands, both from customer and technical perspective. You should bring knowledge and be eager to learn new things to face current and future challenges, all with the aim of providing the best sustainable transport solutions.
Who are we and what we do
The position will be appointed within Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT), Vehicle Engineering, Cab Engineering department in Gothenburg. We are a team consisting of Senior, Lead and Senior Principal Engineers, Scrum master and cross-functional technical leaders, and work all the way from advanced engineering, through detailed development work and up to product launch. Once the product is in the hands of our customers, we continue take full responsibility for our components as true product owners by monitoring the product performance out on the roads.
More specifically, our team is responsible for developing Cab exterior parts for the Volvo Heavy Duty range (FH, FM and FMX) and we take great pride in being the team that delivers components and systems that are visible on the roads all around the world.
Product portfolio consists of:
Cab side area, which includes for example instep, mudguards and storage
Frontlid and wiper panel, area just below the windshield
Upper front, area just above the windshield also known as globetrotter area
All areas include advanced plastic and metal engineering with the aim to give our products a premium look and world class quality.
What we offer
Working as a Lead engineer in the frontlid area at Cab Exterior means that you will have the component responsibilities both in current and future frontlids on Volvo Heavy duty range. Together with the lead engineer that have system responsibility for the front lids and other colleagues in the team, you will make sure that the products perform as expected now and in the future.
You will:
Ensure that the design fulfills the business targets/requirements
Lead cross-functional teams and suppliers in different product changes and product modifications, and through different design stages
Plan, secure and document design and functional solutions
Contribute to a Product Roadmap for your assigned area for the Volvo brand

Who we are looking for
You are a person with a strong technical interest within the plastic and metal engineering area, and you take the necessary initiatives to reach the targets. Knowledge in manufacturing processes, engineering tools and verification processes in the concerned design area is something you already have.
Cross-functional work is something that you are experienced in, and preferably within the automotive product development process. Holding presentations and work with documentation is part of your daily work in your current position. To fulfil our customers future expectations, you are curious and proactive in your work.
Required qualifications:
Master’s degree, or Bachelor with several years of experience
At least 10 years of experience with focus on engineering in plastic material
Knowledge in Volvo’s internal systems KOLA is a merit
Documented skills in Catia V5, concerning:
Advanced structured part creation (Solid- and surface modeling)
Modeling with respect to tooling (draft analysis, tool set up)
Part- and complete system drawing creation
Knowledge of agile methods, such as SAFE, is a merit
Fluent in English
Driver license B
