Lead engineer to Alva Labs
A woman has to send in 30% more applications to get a job. For a person of color, that number goes up to 50%. At the same time, only 19% of all hires made are deemed to be a complete success. Alva Labs is looking to add another lead engineer to drive one of our squads, and together with a product manager and a designer, own a surface of our product.
The company
Alva Labs is a Stockholm-based SaaS company that offers a solution that is helping global companies grow their team in a scientific way. Alva has created a unique candidate assessment platform that helps companies build their organisations with the right people in the right place. By combining state-of-the-art psychometrics, data science, and an obsession with candidate experience, it provides the needed tool for data-driven talent acquisition.
We are growing 2-3x per year and are in the exciting phase to launch Alva in new markets. The current focus is on building a great product, enabling Product-Lead-Growth, and releasing our next big bets.
The role
The team is currently divided into three different squads, At the end of the year, we are looking at six to seven squads. Each focuses on one product surface. In the role of lead engineer, you will manage and drive your own squad. In close collaboration with other experienced engineers as well as designers, and product managers, you will make sure we make a difference for candidates and recruiters, worldwide.
Within 1 month you will:
- Get the support you need from your squad in order to get a good start at Alva.
- Contribute to your squad’s delivery by writing code.
- Manage your squad’s processes and ways of working.
Within 3 months you will:
- Have a good understanding of both the existing system and Alva’s architectural vision.
- Be managing the planning and discovery of new features and functionality.
Within 6 months you will:
- Assume full accountability for the technical aspects of the functionality that your squad is working on.
- Be responsible for the performance development of your squad members.
- Collaborate daily with the squad’s product manager, together you will build features that help our customers to take their recruitment to the next level.
- Be an important part of growing the engineering team at Alva to the next level.

We believe you have worked a couple of years as a software engineer, ideally you have led technical discovery work and driven projects before. Except that, you are:
