As a Lead Environment Artist you will drive the artistic production of gameplay levels, pushing your aesthetic and technical skills to the fullest. Your interest lies foremost with creating realistic worlds, exteriors and interiors, as well as nature. You thrive in an environment where you continually use your experience and ability to communicate and collaborate with colleagues within several different disciplines in the development process.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver the creation of environment art
- Set the standard for environmental art quality and strive for best practices within the team
- Be an expert on all things relating to modelling, texturing, and optimizing assets
- Partner with the Lead Artist and Art Director to create and cultivate the look and feel of the game
- Create visually appealing and engaging 3D models and detailed textures
- Take and receive direction while providing feedback for the team and reviewing artist’s work
- Responsibility for the full scope of the level environment. Participate and communicate with peers, managers and vendors
- Interaction with production to set asset requirements, scheduling and integration
To be successful in this position you have:
- Excellent experience in Maya and/or Modo, Photoshop and/or Quixel and/or Substance Painter and Z-Brush
- In-depth experience with PBR workflows
- An ability to lead a team, communicate well and be proactive
- In depth understanding of real-time game development needs
- Thorough understanding of architecture and nature
- Knowledge of effective asset creation and optimization
- Great with time estimations, assessments and prioritizing
Highly desirable:
You have at least 5 years’ experience working as a 3D artist within the games industry or equivalent. You have an understanding of real-time graphics and have preferably worked on at least two released titles. You have a proven and strong artistic skill set, a good sense of scale and proportions, materials and color/light and are a hands-on person with good communication skills. You will be fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
