Electromobility is one of the main development areas within Volvo Group and was created to be in the forefront of environmental friendly transport solutions for a more sustainable tomorrow.
We are responsible for the transition from conventional powertrains to electromobility and to secure a stepwise implementation in different segments/regions. We develop and drives the electromobility product portfolio for Trucks & Buses as well as creating opportunities for all business areas within Volvo Group. Electromobility is a growing agile driven organization in place to shape the future!
The importance of electromobility is growing every day and a key component within the electrified powertrain is the Energy Storage System (ESS). At our section, we are accountable for the lifecycle management of the ESS, from advanced engineering, throughout product development into the maintenance phase.
As a Geometrical Architect Engineer (GAE) you will be a key player in the most extensive ESS projects for the future. You will work in a close cooperation with a variety of stakeholders and solution providers to ensure the technical solution is on target according to the project pre-requisites. You will be responsible to lead the work of packaging a complete battery pack in close collaboration with component owners and cross functional colleagues.
Deliver complete 3D battery pack based on designer deliveries and by this drive the hardware development for complete battery pack. Look for potential packaging conflict and takes pro-active measurements to resolve these.
Communicates effectively - Is effective in a variety of communication settings: one-on-one, small and large groups, or among diverse styles. Attentively listens to others. Adjusts to fit the audience and the message.
Collaborates - Work cooperatively with others across the organization to achieve shared objectives.
Recognized as a dedicated person with the player mindset that takes ownership for the work that needs to be done.
Creo experience is needed and experience from systems like KOLA, PROTOM and PACE is beneficial.
Good knowledge of CAD Modul structure.
Method development.
Good product knowledge of battery packs and its installation environment is also a merit.
Who are you? Are we a perfect match?
The GAE is responsible of leading Packaging Design Reviews as well as weekly packaging meetings within the running projects. Here, your skill to motivate colleagues to cooperate and solve issues is central and you need to be comfortable driving the meetings and assigning and follow up on tasks to secure progress.
To secure the overall packaging and to support in the design of new solutions, it’s a strong wish to increase the experience and knowledge within the ESS department in doing stack up analyses and tolerance calculations.
Except of this we see that you need the following to succeed as GAE:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical engineering or similar
10 years of experience from automotive industry
7 years of experience of battery development
Very good CAD knowledge and experience in Creo Parametric
High level of English, written and spoken
To appreciate structure and have strong communication skills
