We are recruiting our new Lead Legal & Compliance Counsel – Electronics, Electromechanics and Autonomous to join us, at Volvo Group Trucks Purchasing (GTP) Legal and Compliance (L&C) team, to be located in Gothenburg, Sweden. Are you ready to help us write a new chapter of our transition journey by leading Legal and Compliance services in this area?
Not only will the successful candidate report to the Head of Legal & Compliance within GTP and be a member of the management team of the Electronics, Electromechanics and Autonomous strategic line, he/she will also be part of a global team located in Europe (Sweden and France), North America (USA) and Asia (China). The position will require traveling from time to time, although not extensively.
Role Description
Act as a first point of contact for Electronics, Electromechanics and Autonomous business
Identify, evaluate, and address legal or compliance risks.
Provide legal or compliance advice/counsel in business-related areas of expertise
Anticipate new legal and compliance trends and provide guidance to business teams, as appropriate.
Ensure proper implementation of Volvo Group Compliance programs, in the area of responsibility
Structure legal and compliance solutions and processes for GTP.
Structure, draft, negotiate and/or approve all legal documents
Manage large projects or (end to end) processes.
Research, analyze, and interpret proposed and existing laws, statutes, and regulations
May represent/advocate for an organization in litigation, arbitration, mediation or other disputes
May influence others through explanation of facts, policies and practices.
May also be accountable for liaising with external legal counsel on complex legal issues
Coach, review and delegate work to more junior level professionals.
Qualifications
We are looking for you, who
have an advanced Legal education (JD equivalent) and a robust work experience (position typically requires 10 years or more relevant experience) as well as
A good understanding and appetite for
the legal landscape regarding IT in general, business models (including new business models and partnerships) and contractual interests of both IT suppliers and OEM customers, in particular regarding embedded software, advanced electronic control systems and high speed data networks.
intellectual property aspects of hardware, software and IT services.
of compliance matters regarding IT (e.g. Data, Privacy, IT security, Trade law/Export)
You will have strong personal credibility and integrity, a true business acumen and a can-do mindset in a fast-paced and multi-cultural environment. Your high drive and energy, your distinctive problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills are also pre-requisites for this position, together with cultural awareness and appreciation. You also need to be both a team player and be able to work individually with full own responsibility.
Proficiency in negotiation and drafting of contracts together with a solid experience from contract and commercial law, product liability, bankruptcy and international purchasing related matters together with compliance implementation experience are important requirements. Some experience handling (either directly or through the retention of external legal counsel) complex commercial litigation is an asset. Prior experience working with a multi-national organization is a must-have.
Excellent English skills including legal English proficiency, both orally and in writing are essential. Fluency and working proficiency in additional languages is a valuable asset. A good understanding of the automotive business is an advantage.
