The Position
Avalanche Studios are looking for an enthusiastic and exceptionally skilled Lead Programmer for an unannounced AAA project in development.
As Lead Programmer, it will be your job to collaborate closely with the development team, project leaders, and designers to turn features, improvements, and other cool new ideas into meaningful actions that push our tech into exciting new frontiers. To do this successfully, you’ll be working with the entire development team: assigning work, giving input and feedback, performing reviews, making calls on direction and working with production on estimates and planning. You will also work occasionally in the engine as a part of the project programming team with innovating, developing and collaborating with others to build the systems and features that best showcase our in-house Engine’s capabilities.
The team is moderately sized, which will give you a great opportunity to influence the end product, while at the same time requiring you to push the boundaries of your discipline when needed. Your expertise and knowledge of how different teams connect in the development pipeline, and how features work together through technology, is critical.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent knowledge of C++
- Experience leading and mentoring a team of programmers
- A keen sense of fun gameplay
- Knowledge of gameplay code and open world systems
- Risk-averse and keen to proactively offer practical solutions
- Knowledge of AI, physics, and animation systems
- Strong communication skills across disciplines
Beneficial Experience
- Experience working with Havok Physics, Animation and AI
- Experience with game design processes
- Experience working closely with Design and other disciplines
- Experience with Python
- Experience on current or next-gen console titles
