The GTO International Manufacturing focus is to support the Sales & Marketing organization by being present with assembly operations in the local market when required. We operate some fully Volvo owned plants in South Africa, India, Algeria and Australia as well as Joint Ventures in Saudi Arabia. We also support KD assembly worldwide together with Private Partners. Our industrial development teamwork close to all sales organizations investigating localization needs, both change in existing footprint as well as expansion to new markets.


The knock-down (KD) kits for the Volvo, Renault and Mack are provided in close cooperation with the platforms in Gothenburg, Bourg, Blainville and Macungie. Our task is to supply the local markets with the right number of trucks at promised delivery date with our high Volvo quality standards and at the lowest possible cost. We have support functions located in Gothenburg, Umeå and Lyon in order to provide technical, logistical, Quality/VPS, HR and financial support and competence to the local KD plants.

The GTO IM Manufacturing Engineering and Industrial Development department oversees all manufacturing engineering activities necessary to secure the production in the different IM plants. This includes layout development, process and documentation, tooling and equipment, and all support on site needed to secure the start of production of new plants, new product introductions and product maintenance.


As a Lead project manager in GTO IM Manufacturing Engineering & Industrial Development your assignments include:
Project management for implementation of a new assembly activity in a country,
Project management for an evolution of a production in an existing IM footprint
Project Management for a product modification in an existing IM footprint


You will report to the Vice President Manufacturing Engineering & Industrial Development.


Main responsibilities
Lead new IM industrial partnership implementation and plant improvement projects assisted with GTO IM departments and corporate support functions accordingly to Volvo Group strategy,
Lead new product projects assisted with GTO IM departments,
Conduct when needed feasibility-study investigations and assess investments, resources, time plan, impact, pricing, profitability
Write the draft documents, finalize agreements with support of Legal Dept and ensure contracts & amendments conclusions,
Ensure that all stakeholders understand and adhere to contractual obligations,
Ensure that the commercial aspects and impact of a contract are clear to all parties,
Identify potential problems and address solutions in a timely manner,
Prepare and present recommendation to GTO IM Management Team and/or to the project steering committee,





Competencies / Skills
Ability to lead major Industrial project in IM markets.
Excellent leadership skills. The ability to provide strong leadership, structure and articulate a clear vision,
High degree of personal motivation, drive and energy,
Ability to drive business in VUCA environment (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity)
Ability to run several activities simultaneously,
Must have a confident presence, set high expectations,
Capable of self-direction, setting own agenda while also consulting with stakeholders to ensure alignment,
Good understanding of Volvo and its organization, to be able to consult with a wide variety of departments to ensure that objectives are met,
Naturally sensitive with an emphatic understanding of other parties’ positions,
Enjoying teamwork and flexible, supportive character
Able to understand and work with different cultures,
Strong project skills,
Masters/University degree or equivalent,
Strong business-oriented mindset,
Experience and good skills from International Manufacturing industrial environment,
Lean Manufacturing/VPS skills,
Good understanding of Volvo/Renault/Mack products Data structure,
Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
Fluent in English, written and spoken



The location of this position will be Sweden or France and frequent traveling will be required.
