Responsibilities:
We are mainly working with large steel constructions that very often have to comply with local building codes. These constructions are typically beam or plate constructions that have to be dimensioned to prevent buckling.
- You will be responsible to define and propose concept design that complies with customer specifications and follows available local building codes (Euro code).
- You will document results from strength calculations in analysis reports and lead design review with the project team.
- You will work closely with sales and tendering in the bidding phase to come up with a weight estimation.
- You will perform FEA analysis, i.e. Prepare FEA model, select analysis method, and specify material, loads and Boundary conditions.
- One important part of your job will be to develop new analysis methods using FE-analysis.
Key skills and requirements for the role:
You should be well structured and organized to lead structural engineering work within a project. You need to be creative and open minded in your work to develop new analysis methods. Your background is probably civil or mechanical engineering with at least a master university degree.
Strong knowledge is required within the following fields:
- Solid mechanics, buckling, thermal stresses, modal response spectrum analysis
- Finite Element Analysis (ABAQUS, SAP2000 .)
- Building codes (Euro codes)
Knowledge within the following fields is considered as an advantage:
- Programming language (C++, FORTRAN)
- CAD tool (CATIA v5)
- Scripting language (MathCAD)
