We are building a state-of-the-art facility for research and development of the next generation of battery cells, and we need your help in making it happen. If you have engineered complex automotive products with a test engineering focus, this opportunity as Lead Test Engineer is for you. You will in this role be in charge of vehicle integration cell testing strategy, innovate and analysis test procedures to define next generation test procedures for automotive vehicle cells and lead the validation task to ensure that the cells fulfil automotive capabilities, comply with regulations and standards.

As Lead Test Engineer for Automotive Cells , you will be the technical lead, coordinating the testing process from requirements to finished validation results including sign of towards production compliance. We strongly believe that you are data-driven with experience and passion to derive conclusions from generated and measured data. We strive for an open culture where you bring your own experience and ideas to develop the best performing and most cost-efficient battery cells. You will be part of the Systems Engineering Unit, working close with both our battery cell R&D team, manufacturing and liaison with Volvo Cars and Northvolt. The role reports to our VP Systems Engineering.

We are looking for an enthusiastic learner who takes ownership and responsibility for tasks and is eager to collaborate to achieve great results. We would like to see that you are familiar with Automotive Development Processes, with solid experience from battery cell/module/system testing towards the automotive industry.

We believe that you have multidisciplinary experience and an overview from simulation / electrical / mechanical design. In general, you have a collaborative spirit, and you are eager to contribute to creating great end-results.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Responsible for testing strategy incl. equipment for the vehicle integration testing
- Responsible standards and regulations overview
- Responsible for the test matrix/ test timeplan/ BOMS for test equipment samples
- Overview external test capability
- Write and document test procedure +results
- Data analytics skills
- Responsible for test cost calculation


- A relevant university degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanics, Physics or equivalent
- +3 years of practical engineering experience in an R&D-focused environment preferably within the automotive industry with focus on battery cell/ module/ pack testing
- Excellent English written and oral skills

We also believe you have:

- Project management experience or Lead engineer experience in electrification
- Comfortable with ambiguity; self-starter and purpose driven; have a strong sense of curiosity
- Brings a “can do” attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit to day-to-day work

If you are the right person for this role, you are goal-oriented, curious, and persistent in solving problems at their root causes. Your first-principles knowledge of engineering allows you to engage quickly with a wide range of new problems.

Our Gigafactory in Gothenburg will be one of the largest cell production facilities in Europe, with a potential annual cell production capacity of up to 50 gigawatt hours (GWh) - thereby enabling a supply of batteries for approximately half a million Volvo and Polestar cars per year. Our state-of-the-art R&D facility will gather leading expertise from all over the world, to create the next generation battery cells.
