Within the Electromobility department, we work with the design and development of electromobility systems and components such as energy storage, motor drives, and charging solutions for Volvo group products. Electromobility is an important technology area with a strong contribution to reducing the CO2 emissions in our society.
About the role
The opportunities are endless, and that’s why we are now looking for a Lead Thermal Engineer who wants to work with our key component within the electrified powertrain. You will be part of a global team of experts within the Energy Storage System (ESS) where all of you strive for creativity, analytical thinking, innovation capability, and the ability to apply knowledge in everything you do.
Here, you will lead and drive the technical development and develop solutions according to the target for thermal systems and components – both in early and later phases. With your problem-solving mindset, you make technical recommendations and take technical solutions for us to reach even higher than we did yesterday. Have you been leading projects before and want to get a chance to sharpen your skills in this area? Then this role is for you. Here, you will have the opportunity to interact with experts and engineers across the different Volvo organizations. Agile is our way of working. Together with your team, you will be able to paint the bigger picture, identify the objectives, and set priorities while coordinating internal and external work with other departments and suppliers.

We are looking for you…
… who are passionate about engineering. You are a team player who brings your strong analytical mindset to the table, with expertise in the analysis and design of cooling systems. You have strong engineering and scientific judgment and want to work hands-on when approaching technology. You are also a networker who likes to build contacts and lead the work with counterparts in the cross-functional organization. You want to work in an inspiring environment with your kind and skilled colleagues and develop your professional and individual skills in the long term. Because we hope you stay here for a while.
Qualifications:
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Chemical Engineering.
5 years of work experience in development of thermal systems and components.
Experience of cooling systems development for battery electric vehicles.
It is meritorious if you have experience within Energy Storage System and battery pack, or thermal testing, measurements methods and heat transfer simulations.
