Volvo Cars is looking to redefine all aspects of the car eco-system including ownership, autonomous driving, vehicle electrification, sustainability and online shopping. User Experience as a discipline is a key part of Volvo Cars' strategy and a newly formed UX organisation will help gather insights about our user's and redefine and elevate the users experience of Volvo's products and Services. We are looking for a Lead Visual Designer to build our mobile Design Language System.

Main responsibilities include:
As a Lead Visual Designer on the Mobile Platform team, you will build and maintain our Design Language System for the mobile app, wearables and any experiences beyond the Vehicle. You will articulate a shared vision for our Mobile Design system, crafting compelling vignettes and setting an inspiring creative direction for the anyone creating on our mobile platform to follow. You will collaborate with our central guideline team and other mobile UX designers to ensure a seamless customer experience across Volvo’s digital landscape. You will communicate visual design direction, principles and rationale using data and customer insights. You will ensure that UI-platform engineering teams build our system according to the design system you help us to create.

As a Lead Visual Designer you will work in a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, researchers and product managers to build and maintain the foundational building blocks of Volvo Cars’s mobile digital applications. You will partner with mobile product designers from around the company to develop new styles and patterns and improve existing ones. You will collaborate with other design systems teams (e.g. Web, Car DLS) on evolving shared processes and tooling to support large numbers of mobile clusters working on diverse touch points - all the while focussed on improving visual quality and speed of implementation.

As a designer you are focused on the big picture as well as little details of the visual experience. You are swift to create and scale structure while advocating for user centred experiences.

Who you are:
* You’ve been designing for 8+ years for a consumer-focused tech company, so you understand what it takes to create elegant, consumer-oriented experiences.
* You are a versatile designer who uses a full range of skills— visual design, prototyping, motion design and interaction design — to ensure you deliver magical experiences to the customer.
* You have a technical-mind, interested in code as the building blocks our digital products are made of.
* You are sensitive to brand tonality and are able to design accordingly within broad guidelines, always striving to create new and contemporary design ideas.
* Strong and documented skills within visual/graphic design, layout, motion and typography design.
* You have a strong understanding of building and maintaining custom creative tooling, design libraries or systems for internal or external use in design teams.
* You are a strong collaborator, who can work with not only design partners, but many other stakeholders from marketing to engineering. You have strong communication and presentation skills that allows you discuss and present ideas with a flair for the visual narrative. 
* You have a people-focused design mentality. Constantly looking to hone your design instinct through user feedback. Whether that’s hands-on user research or a quantitative A/B test.
