Position summary
The Leadership and Development Communications Officer holds a central role supporting the School leadership team in their communications activities to the community and external stakeholders. Producing reports, presentations, speeches and letters, the postholder will be able to adapt their tone of voice and messaging style.
Key areas of responsibility
Development communications
Work with the Advancement Director to produce compelling and persuasive development communications including bespoke donor proposals, impact reports and prospect letters.
Commission content from the School community, including Faculty and students, to enhance development communications
Recommend creative content approaches for strengthening fundraising messaging, including utilising multimedia, infographics and photography.
Produce multimedia content including videos in support of fundraising campaigns..
Produce SIS Annual Fund messaging and campaign communications.
Lead on the preparation of stewardship communications, preparing stewardship reports and materials to enable donors to understand and value the impact their gifts are making.
Work with the Community Engagement Officer to produce online content for the SIS website focused on fundraising activity.
Leadership communications
Draft correspondence and community messages from the School Leadership Team, adapting style and tone of voice to align with the sender.
Speech writing and preparation of presentations on behalf of the School Leadership Team and Board, researching topics, gathering data, recommending content, seeking input from staff across the School.
Copywriting articles for key communications channels including The Dispatch and the website.
Project manage the production of School reports, print publications and videos, including the Annual Review and admissions material for prospective families.
Develop content plans, working with Advancement colleagues and staff across the School community to research and draft content for publications.
Brief and work with creatives (e.g. graphic designers, photographers, editors) to deliver high quality materials for campaigns and online communications.
Work with external printers to manage the production process and ensure that material is produced on time, on budget, and to a high quality.
Devise communications strategies and plans for major School initiatives as delegated by the Advancement Director.
Editorial and brand oversight
Contribute to the Advancement team content planning process, ensuring a regular flow of communications are developed for School channels
Lead on regular editorial review of content produced across the team, ensuring adherence to house style and ensuring quality always high.
Develop a strong understanding of the SIS Style Guide to ensure all visual and written outputs comply with the School brand approach.
In addition to the above areas of responsibility the position may require other reasonable duties relating to the scope of the position. The post holder will at times be required to work outside of normal office hours and/or weekends.
Qualifications and experience
Educated to degree level
Proven track-record of successfully working with communications, preferably within an educational setting
Very high level of written and spoken English is required, with some proficiency writing in Swedish an advantage
Demonstrable experience of writing, editing and proofreading, including the ability to prepare materials for different audiences and purposes and ‘ghost writing’.
Experience of producing material for fundraising, including proposal development
Storytelling
Experience of producing video content.
Experience working with an organisational brand style
Willingness and ability to work on a number of simultaneous projects
International background or experience desirable
Excellent communication skills.

Contract
Permanent – 100 %
Starting – as soon as possible after 1 August 2021
