Lead/Senior software and component owner, Vehicle Dynamics

Our team currently consists of 18 engineers with different professional backgrounds, interests and history but with one common mindset: To develop our products and ourselves! With the sea as our closest neighbor, where a lunch walk along the seaside in Arendal is an energy boosting and relaxing activity, we gather every day to secure the quality and competitiveness of our products in a fast-evolving business.
In our group, we focus on the development of control units and electrical components which are used in all our vehicles. Having a global responsibility, the solutions developed within the team can be found in Volvo buses all over the world helping millions of people every day to reach their destination. What can we offer?
You will contribute to world-class development of Vehicle Dynamics, understanding and finding the right balance between Driver interaction, Comfort and Safety for both future and present transport solutions. You will lead the development of your specific control units and take on a significant role in securing the function and its contribution to the competitiveness of our vehicles.
The role spans from system requirement specifications to helping our stakeholders in the details. You will work in engineering projects and be involved in all phases of the product development process, from advanced engineering to the aftermarket.
Main area of responsibility:
You will be a part of the Electrical & Electronics Component Chassis Group within the Electrical & Software Architecture Department. You will play an important role in the development of new functionality for our control units and the main responsibilities are:
Responsible for the hardware and software for one or several ECU’s and components within the areas of Vehicle Dynamics as Turntable (TT), Front Active Steering (FAS) and Electro Hydraulic Power Steering (EHPS)
Coordinate, document and release new ECU, ESW or components according to Volvo processes
Secure integration and test functionality in complete buses as well as in rigs
Lead discussions with internal and external suppliers
Secure strategy compliance, quality and requirement fulfillment before releases

B.Sc. or higher education in Electrics or Electronics Engineering or similar is highly valuable as well as previous experience from software development in the automotive industry. A solid network within Volvo Group and knowledge of our system and processes (KOLA, SW-Configurator, System Weaver, Engineering Tool, SEWS2.) is meritorious
Since you have good engineering judgment and priorities, you have the ability and interest to technically support, lead and challenge colleagues in their work and their mindset. You like to share your passion for technical solutions and you have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. As a person you are positive, you display driving force and have a structured way of working.
