What You Will Be Doing
In a disrupted environment, Volvo more than ever, needs a robust Supply Chain to fulfill its engagement in front of customers, shareholders, and society. To create a world class supply chain, the Lean manufacturing Engineer will assess the performance of key Supply Partners.
Developing and improving supplier performance in terms of Capacity and Efficiency of our suppliers, we’re creating a vital link between our supply chain, our factories, and our customers. With your lean toolbox, your ability to convince, using data to be fact based, you take part in activities such as capacity evaluations and expansions, as well as performance reviews, root cause analysis, value stream mapping, diagnosis, risk management initiatives, etc.
With your technical background and analytical outlook, you will coordinate improvement actions together with the suppliers.
You create a professional environment in which you encourage suppliers to develop themselves to improve their performance.
Who are you?
Maybe you are a seasoned lean coach or have worked as a manufacturing engineer, production manager, supplier development engineer or similar, applying lean principles and tools hands on. As a lean manufacturing engineer, you will map and analyse manufacturing systems and complete supply chains, suggest improvements, coach, and challenge supplier management in implementation. The role requires the ability to take on challenges on your own and plan your work in an autonomous way. You will collaborate cross functionally e.g., with buyers, supplier quality engineers, logistic, cost engineers etc. So it is crucial that you can handle different personalities and cultures. We believe that you have an eye for detail and the ability to crunch data and quantify improvements in financial measurables, but also can take a helicopter perspective of the situation to focus on the right areas. The successful candidate should be able to effectively communicate with senior management, have a big picture strategic mindset, manage multiple priorities, influence, and solve complex problems.

What we expect
University degree (Master); preferably within engineering
Strong lean background with hands-on experience of applying lean principles and tools in a pragmatic way
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Ready to travel to suppliers in Europe up to 50% of the time and sometimes with short notice
Project management experience
Multicultural experience is an asset
