Northvolt has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lean Six Sigma Lead to join our bold team based in Västerås to drive advanced six sigma projects and upskill the whole Northvolt organisation in Six Sigma.
In joining us you will play an important part from early on in enabling supply of the first large scale European battery factory. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society. We are continuously building a team of experienced improvement leaders with industry background.
You will be in charge of developing, defining and implementing the Six Sigma framework in Northvolt to drive advanced problem solving and Quality improvement projects. You will also be responsible for reviewing quality of our new product in development and will work closely with R&D, Production and Process Engineering to follow-up and improve to ensure a flawless transition into manufacture and supply of our Li-ion cells. You are skilled in running Design of Experiments and DMAIC improvement projects to resolve difficult and complex problems and optimise our processes.
In general, you have experience in driving large, innovative and challenging improvement projects internally and with external partners in the area of quality, six sigma, qualification & validation, improvements, efficiency and optimisation. Specifically, you have a deep understanding of working and cooperating cross-functionally in a multicultural environment with R&D, Production, Maintenance, Process Engineering, IT and Automation. You are also experienced in leading and coaching other improvement leads.
The candidate should be analytical and logical with an ability to identify opportunities and improvements to drive increased quality through data driven approaches, and should have strong technical abilities in order to succeed in this role.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Set up and Manage the Six Sigma program and coordinate with Leadership Team to identify and prioritize targeted areas of opportunity across the corporation for eliminating waste and reducing variation
Facilitate continuous improvement activities and events, long-term as well as quick response
Mentor staff at various positions, e.g. black belts, process quality and sponsors in their application of Lean and Six Sigma tools, techniques and principles.
Lead trouble shooting and root cause analysis activities in relation to deviations and quality issues, e.g. 8D and non-conformity investigations
Maintain detailed records of all projects
Complex problem solving and process optimisation, skilled in DoE, multivariate data analysis etc.
Co-ordinate quality gate reviews in the Product Development process from start of design phase through to manufacturing of products
Oversee the Quality Control and testing plan, review results and process performance and initiate improvement projects
Collaborate closely with Customer quality engineers to deliver required input to customer projects, e.g. PPAP documentation
Take part and advise in developing DFMEA's and PFMEA's
Work across many parts of the organization, collaborating with the Battery Systems organization, business development, technical, design and development teams, automation and external partners

Skills & Requirements
Education/Experience
MSc degree in Chemistry/Manufacturing/Engineering
Education in relevant quality and industrialisation discipline
Certified six sigma professional, Master Black Belt certification strongly preferred
Knowledgeable in statistics and multivariate data analysis, as well as in Design of Experiments
5+ years of relevant work experience within high volume assembly/production
Knowledge of quality management systems, e.g. ISO 9001, IATF16949. ISO 14001 is a plus
Experience in developing processes, standards, procedures and documentation in an efficient way to ensure high quality products to meet customer requirements
Project management skills and a successful track record of leading quality improvement/six sigma projects in manufacturing and/or with suppliers
Experience in developing the competence and abilities of the improvement leaders, e.g. black belts, through coaching, feedback and training
Experience from developing training and certification procedures and programs
Knowledgeable in Lean, especially in administration and production environments but also in logistics and services
Experience in SPC, process capability, FMEA, Quality troubleshooting tools and problem solving methodology
Curious, technically educated and preferably with a strong business strategy background
Specific Skills/Abilities
Excellent English written and oral skills, Swedish is a plus
