IKEA of Sweden is responsible for developing the IKEA range and making it available to stores and customers all over the world.Expressed in terms of IKEA's three main processes, IKEA of Sweden leads the processes Creating the Home Furnishings Offer and Supplying and also takes part in the third main process, called Communicating & Selling, which is lead by Retail
The core of IKEA is our product range, characterised by the IKEA concept of democratic design - the notion that beautiful form and practical function should go hand in hand at an affordable price.IKEA of Sweden, or IoS, is in charge of range development.It comprises a number of Business Areas, each of which is a business of its own and deals with a specific product segment.
As the IKEA Leather Range is a very important part of the sofa-offer to our customer, we have to secure that we have specialist and deep competence about leather and leather production.
You will work with the total range of leather for all our sofas and armchairs from a technical point of view.This type of job means that you will be responsible to secure that our leather qualities will look really good and will exceed our customer's expectations, and fulfils all requirements on all markets.
Your responsibilities
- Ultimate responsibility for the technical aspects of the leather range, i.e.safety, customer-friendliness and production adaptation.
- Determine and describe the frame work for the basic product requirements, create and update necessary technical documentation and make it available for and understood by the IKEA Trading Offices around the world.
- Ensure quality of new leather qualities through testing and approval, risk analysis, evaluation of newly started production, product audit (inspection) and corrective actions.
- Monitor and analyse the quality of existing and running leather range and initiate corrective actions if necessary.
- Run or participate in projects with the aim of developing working methods, and achieving a uniform and acceptable product quality, in co-operation with the suppliers and other functions in IKEA.
- Establish a contact network with different support functions both within
IKEA and outside IKEA.
- Inform, guide and educate other IKEA companies in product and material knowledge, environmental requirements, laws and standards, risk analysis, etc regarding leather.
This includes travelling to other IKEA units all over the world.
- Approx 50 travelling days / year.
- Look into the future, what is happening regarding testing, environmental issues, customer demands.
Knowledge
- Deep technical competence in, leather production chain, from the animal all the way to the finished leather ready to dress on a sofa or an armchair.Including knowledge about all the processes in leather productions such as; wet-blue, dying, finishing etc.
- Long production experience of leather production, including wet-blue, dying, finishing etc.
- Good knowledge about tests required for leather and different leather qualities.
- Three-year technical university education or similar deep competence acquired from professional experience.
- Sound knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
