The lnstitute of Health and Care Sciences is nationally and internationally leading in personcentred care, which permeates education, research, and innovation. The lnstitute is organized by sections in the form of academic environments, which consist of interdisciplinary focus areas. In these academic settings, the combined expertise is integrated with the aim to promote quality in education, research, and collaboration.
At the lnstitute, professional education for nurses, radiology nurses, midwives, and specialist nurses is provided. Furthermore, commissioned courses and short courses at an advanced level are offered, allowing students to pursue further studies up to a master's degree in one of the department's major subjects; nursing, radiography, and care pedagogy. The department also offers doctoral education in health sciences.

Subject area description
Reproductive and perinatal health is based on a humanistic view and generates knowledge about human reproduction and its processes. This includes sexuality, fertility, abortion, contraception, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, the neonatal period, parenthood, and menopause.
Duties
The duties of a university lecturer include planning and teaching, coordinating resources, ensuring ongoing coherence in courses, staying updated on current developments within the subject areas, and being responsible for courses. Within this role, you will also supervise and assess undergraduate theses and supervise theses at the advanced level.
The role of course responsibility includes developing and coordinating learning objectives, teaching activities, forms of examination, and assessrnent criteria in relation to content, purpose, and current pedagogical research. Furthermore, it involves ensuring the quality of education with validated evaluation forms and actively working for subject development of the main area.
Administrative tasks related to educational activities constitute a significant part of the job responsibilities. Other tasks might also occur, and the content of the employment can change over time.
The position also involves actively contributing to achieving the departrnent's objectives and operational plan, which, among other things, means working to develop the acadernic environment within the section's Complete Academic Environment. In addition, all ernployees are expected to actively participate in the scheduled joint meetings and activities organized by the institution.
The applicant is expected to teach in both Swedish and English.
Eligibility
Qualifications for employment as a teacher are specified in the Appointment Proceclure for Teaching Posts at the University of Gothenburg.
Completed higher education at least at the advanced level in reproductive and perinatal health, proven pedagogical proficiency, and a midwifery degree. Swedish midwifery license.
Proficient in both Swedish and English, in speaking and writing.
Assessment criteria
Evaluation criteria for employment as a teacher are specified in the Appointment Procedure for Teaching Posts at the University of Gothenburg.
First and foremost, proven pedagogical skills will be assessed, followed by clinical proficiency, and then administrative expertise.
In the evaluation of pedagogical proficiency, particular emphasis will be placed on high pedagogical competence with experience in teaching relevant to the job tasks from the university and higher education sectors. Assessment of pedagogical proficiency includes planning, implementation, evaluation, supervision, and examination. Pedagogical skills should be well documented so that quality can also be assessed.
Merits include educational experience in person-centred care, as this is a profile area at the institution.
When assessing clinical proficiency, particular emphasis will be placed on a broad and long-term professional experience in the healthcare sector, and current clinical experience in maternity care is advantageous. The clinical proficiency should be well documented so that quality can also be assessed.
Further consideration will be given to administrative and organizational skills, demonstrated, among other things, by experience in planning, monitoring, prioritizing work effectively, the ability to maintain timelines, and to work systematically with awareness of goals and quality. Administrative proficiency also means a good understanding of systems.
Proven teamwork and flexibility within both teacher and student groups and good relationship-building qualities are essential as the institution operates based on a person-centred approach.
Experience in research is advantageous as we would like university lecturers to contribute to the academic environment through teaching, research, and collaboration. A master's degree in reproductive and perinatal health or equivalent is also a merit.
