Information about the research/the project/the department
The CSE department is a strong international working place with around 90 faculty members and 70 Ph.D. students from over 30 countries. It is a fully integrated department between Chalmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg with activity at both the Johanneberg and the Lindholmen campuses. The research performed at the CSE department spans from theoretical underpinnings to applied systems development, and there is extensive national and international collaboration with academia and industry all around the world.

The department is the main responsible for four Bachelor programmes (Computer engineering, Information technology, Computer science and Software engineering and managements) and six Master programmes. The Bachelor level courses are normally taught in Swedish while Master and graduate level education is in English.

The Software Technology division is one of the five divisions at the CSE department. We have an excellent working environment, and are very active in international collaboration. We conduct successful research and education in functional programming, security and privacy, domain-specific languages, software testing, and formal methods, including automatic theorem-proving, contract analysis, and system, hardware and software verification.

Major responsibilities
The position is a full-time tenured appointment with a focus on education, pedagogical development and leadership, but we appreciate a modest percentage of research activities. The amount of research time can be reconsidered in the future if the candidate obtains research funding.

The candidate is expected to teach diverse programming courses but also courses in related areas like data structures, testing, programming paradigms, compiler construction, project supervision, etc. Besides teaching, the applicant is expected to keep up to date with the technical development in the relevant areas of the position and, if relevant, introduce new technical or pedagogical concepts in the curricula.

The holder should be able to collaborate with industrial, academic and governmental partners and is encouraged to apply for funding for further pedagogical advancement of our programmes.

Position summary
The scientific area of this full-time permanent position is Software Technology, interpreted broadly, but the focus is on education, pedagogical development and leadership. We welcome candidates with experience from pedagogical or didactical research and development. The candidate should be fluent in English and be willing to learn Swedish within a few years. Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

Qualifications
Applicants for the position must have a background in Computer Science (or a related subject) of at least 240 ECTS points, or equivalent qualifications. In addition, the applications should have completed 15 ETCS points on pedagogical courses for higher education, or should be able to prove equivalent pedagogical expertise. Moreover, applicants should be fluent in English; knowledge in Swedish is a plus.

The candidate should have several years of industrial or academic experience in the area of the position. In addition, the candidate should have shown excellent pedagogical skills, and a strong ability to lead the teaching and planning of new courses.

A PhD degree in Computer Science or similar is meritorious. Experience of successful collaboration between academia and industry or society is desirable. Administrative skills and experience in leadership and management of education are an advantage.
