Driving the Shift and Legal CO2 at Scania

Our corporate strategy brings Sustainability to a new ambition level. With our Science Based Targets we are taking a leap in our ambitions on CO2 reduction in our operations but also committing to a customer offer with the lowest carbon footprint in the industry. We do this since it is critical for our future success. We also see an ever raising focus on sustainability from legislators around the world.

Within the CO2-legalization area world-wide, Scania work for fair legalisations that shall help the customer to choose the best bus or truck from an energy economy and sustainability perspective. We also work external and internal to secure that Scania receive a fair declared CO2 and fuel consumption value. Very recently our leading position was confirmed by the CO2 declaration results published by EU commission.

Legal CO2 at R&D


• The role of YDMC is to be the overall technical responsible for securing that Scania is fulfilling the legal CO2 requirements, in EU as well as the rest of the world. The responsibility is cross-functional within as well as outside R&D.
• We support the development groups in their work with certification of components for CO2-legislation.
• We monitor the declared values and make prognoses of the future.
• Lobbying is an important task, to early know what requirements will come and influence the way new legislation is formed. In this work our group is often responsible for the facts forming the basis of the lobbying work.
• We work in close cooperation with YDR - Regulations & Standards, our counterparts at MAN and other OEMs within ACEA.

What you will do

As legal CO2 expert you will:


• Work in a group that work closely together with focus on legal CO2, Energy Economy and Product Sustainability.
• Work in together with other expert in the group to cover the complete area of legislative CO2 for both truck and buses, in EU and the rest of the world.
• Attend different working groups to form the lobbying positions, both in Scania and outside within manufacturers organizations. There will be business trips manly within Europe.
• Ensure effective cross-functional development and learning between organisations within the area.
• Coach the R&D organisation to deliver on their commitments and necessary inputs.
• Deliver status and prognosis to top management of Scania and Traton.

Do you fit the profile?

You have a relevant university degree and several years of experience from strategic work within and/or outside Scania. You have good overall knowledge of the Scania product portfolio and experience of legalization work is an advantage.

You like to interact with people from different parts of the organisation and have a very good ability of giving presentations to broad audiences and transferring knowledge on a more detailed level in smaller groups.

You are structured, result oriented and have analytical skills as well as a curious mindset. It is natural for you to see things in a broad perspective as well as go into the details. Cooperation is very natural for you.
