WHAT UTOPIANS DO

We are building a better world for music with innovative big data technology that tracks online music sources and translates them into meaningful music consumption reports for royalty collection. The solution we’re building does not threaten to usurp the role of industry incumbents - it is about bringing transparency in the industry and supporting efficient royalty collection.

WHAT YOUR ROLE WILL BE

Being a Legal Counsel at Utopia is being part of a growing professional team in the legal field supporting the rest of the Utopia Group with legal and business affairs expertise in different domains.

Your work will be focused on assisting the current team with reviewing and creating legal documentation, providing legal advice on different matters, such as corporate matters, contracts, labor agreements, regulatory measures, intellectual property rights and more. You will also be dealing with outside counsel.

The work is international and involves contacts with external and internal lawyers in different countries. You will be part of a team that is highly motivated and with ambitious goals for the future. You will proactively identify solutions that mitigate key risks and, even more importantly, increase likelihood that we hit our business objectives, both with the contract or task at hand as well as hitting them as a company.

Your tasks:

Being a key player in the daily operations of the legal team.
Drafting and reviewing various legal documents, including agreements and minutes of meetings.
Working in collaboration with different departments within the Utopia Group on their business related endeavours and providing legal and business affairs advice.
Conducting legal, business and competitive research.
Researching and implementing tools and processes to improve the operational efficiency and increase productivity.


THE IDEAL SKILLSET

Master's degree with particular interest in business/commercial law, company law or copyright law.
Has got a solution and data driven attitude to meet objectives.
Has several years, at least 5-10, previous experience from a similar in-house role or highly relevant experience, perhaps even working with rights such as in TV, music or video.
Experience in drafting and negotiating master services agreements and supporting in RFP/RFQ-processes.
Advanced communication skills.
Enjoys building relationships, having fun with colleagues and super serving business partners and customers.
Fluent in English, other languages are an advantage, particularly German and Spanish.
Interest in the music industry and a love for music and technology.
Enjoys doing business.
Has got the ability to communicate complex issues and matters.
Able to see the bigger picture.
