A Legal Counsel in Omnichannel Portfolio is responsible for enabling, guiding and protecting the H&M Group in relation to leases and other legal contracts that the Group enters into or is a party to. This involves negotiating, writing and reviewing various agreements. A Legal Counsel is responsible for understanding global legal requirements and standards and supporting their relevant regions and markets to achieve these wherever possible. Further, a Legal Counsel is responsible for assisting with training in relevant legal areas and assisting with conflict management when required.
Key areas of responsibility:
Reviewing new lease contracts, agreements for rebuild, amendments and consolidations to confirm they align with global standards and that the legal documents reflect the deal presented to the board or decision makers.
Ensure that legal documents are properly executed and returned.
Negotiating and drafting lease agreements for new market entries
Keeping track and records of what has been approved by the board and the status of signed documents.
In expansion contract issues, goal setting and sharing best practice
In recruitment, building teams and resourcing.
In training, understanding global standards, trends and set ups in different markets.
In using LIMA and their contract management.
Working closely with Commercial Advisors – Store Network to ensure that deals are in the best possible format when presented to the Board / decision makers.
Supporting other functions within global expansion in various legal matters related to expansion, such as global construction and global facility management.
Sharing best practice.
Training and educating colleagues in relevant legal matters relating to leasing and expansion and training them to identify legal risks related to new projects
Training regions, markets and colleagues in LIMA.
Developing and improving H&M contract management when it comes to lease documentation.


Qualifications
Legal degree.
Representing Expansion to regions, markets, landlords, external parties and senior stakeholders requires a high level of professionalism.

are comfortable and efficient in resolving or facilitating the solving of situations with conflicting interests.
are comfortable making decisions – even with ambiguous circumstances and tight timelines.
review contracts and agreements thoroughly and pays attention to details
can break arguments or theories into small parts, conceptualize ideas and define conclusions with supporting arguments.
can define effective long-term plans in line with the vision and strategy and targets for the legal team.
can present information, to a varying number of people, in an effective way that is relevant to the information and the audience.
coordinate and maintains good collaboration with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

Other knowledge, skills and supporting competences:
A background in leasing is meriting, but not required.
A individual who is self-motivated and takes initiatives – who shows passion and enthusiasm in the daily work and inspires others with a positive attitude to work and legal issues. Someone who is humble with high integrity and can remain calm and positive under pressure.
