About this opportunity
We are hiring investigations counsel within Ericsson’s Corporate and Government Investigations group. The purpose of the CGI team is to serve as critical support to the Compliance Office in order to ensure the effectiveness and credibility of the Company’s ethics & compliance program, defend the Company’s commitment to integrity in its culture and ways of working, build trust with its stakeholders, including enforcement authorities, and ultimately drive the company’s sustainable success.
What you will do
Give legal advice in connection with investigations, particularly complex internal investigations, investigations by government authorities, and cases relevant to the Audit & Compliance Committee
Determine the need for and maintain attorney client privilege; conduct investigations under attorney-client privilege where applicable and use internal resources or external counsel
Support our reporting to the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, and Ericsson’s external compliance monitor, including matters under Paragraph 6 of Ericsson’s Deferred Prosecution Agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice
Support internal investigations and investigations by external regulators and enforcement authorities
Supervise external counsel on investigations, including providing guidance on the appropriate handling of such matters, the preservation and collection of relevant data, the timely review and production of data to the investigating governmental authority, and the tracking of materials sought, collected and produced, as appropriate
Conduct internal investigations of reported Code of Business Ethics violations in a forensically sound, robust, fair and timely manner, and in compliance with relevant laws (including employment laws and data privacy laws)
Draft clear written reports, and assist others with report drafting
Inform relevant decision-makers of the status of investigation findings on a timely basis and present summaries of the investigation
Assist in the development of investigations policies and processes
Act with integrity, objectivity and fairness
Apply sound legal judgment to address gray areas and interpret and apply the law
You will bring
A law degree from an accredited law school and admission and good standing in a state bar (or equivalent outside of the U.S.)
8+ years’ experience handling investigations
Experience handling complex investigations, including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other anti-corruption issues, money laundering, export controls and sanctions, and anti-competition
Experience in-house at a multi-national company or at a law firm advising multi-national businesses
Fluency in English
Strong communication, writing and presentation skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to independently handle and manage complex matters, as well as manage multiple matters at one time
Demonstrated ability to think strategically with regard to scoping, handling and resolving investigations
Preferred qualifications:
Government investigations experience, including experience interacting with regulators, particularly in the United States
Experience working with or under a monitor is preferable
Foreign language fluency is a plus
