WHO YOU ARE
Hej! We are Ingka Group Legal and Governance, part of Ingka Group, the biggest IKEA franchisee accounting for more than 90% of IKEA sales globally, and we bring IKEA to the lives of the many people in more than 30 countries around the world in store and online.
THE ROLE
We’re thrilled to be recruiting for a commercial lawyer to join our Digital and Procurement legal team, based in Malmö, Sweden (don’t worry if you’re not based in Sweden as we can help with relocation).
As Legal Counsel – Digital and Procurement, you’ll be part of a team of six that supports our global business, and, in particular, our ambitious (and busy!) Digital, Procurement and Development and Innovation teams as we become even more digital and accessible for our customers and co-workers.
If it’s variety your looking for, then you’re in the right place; you’ll work closely (and primarily to begin with) with our Procurement teams to support with the vast array of commercial contracts and categories that they handle. You’ll also play a key role in helping our Digital and Development and Innovations teams deliver new tech initiatives as we continue to build on our strong online presence and explore, create and drive forward a slick omnichannel experience for our customers – these are exciting times!
You’ll be part of a global legal and business community. You will have to give legal advice, often on cross-border matters and with a global focus, and to readily identify risks, issues as well as opportunities but we also work with, support, and have the support of, the legal teams in the countries where we operate.
Ingka has an entrepreneurial spirit and is fast-paced, with a million things going on at once, so the role requires flexibility, agility and the ability to prioritise (and re-prioritise!) but “tillsammans” (Swedish for togetherness) is key and makes Ingka a highly collaborative, supportive and positive place to work.
The role reports into Steven Whyte, our Legal Counsel Manager – Digital, and you will support and work with him and the other members of the team.
A snapshot of what you’ll be doing:
• Reviewing, drafting and negotiating the broad spectrum of commercial agreements, including master services agreements, various purchase agreements, statements of work, tech contracts (SaaS, PaaS, open and inner source), SLAs, data processing agreements, consultancy services agreements, IP licences, media and marketing agreements, intra-group agreements, development agreements…
• Advising on general commercial and legal matters.
• Advising on the development and deployment of new tech, customer and co-worker experiences and initiatives, and our omnichannel and digital offerings.
• Creating and delivering appropriate training to empower co-workers with a degree of legal knowledge to enable them to identify legal and commercial risks.
• Finding commercially minded solutions to potential legal issues and problems.
• Always looking to see where you can add value!
WE´RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO:
• has general commercial legal experience, ideally with some IP, data privacy and/or tech-related experience, gained either in private practice or in-house (some in-house experience would be good);
• has 3-5 years post qualification experience (level is only a guide);
• has solid academics (law degree or equivalent legal qualification);
• is fluent in English – you must be able to write and negotiate contracts in English (it’s our business language);
• is tech proficient, has good IT skills and an interest in digital developments and e-comm;
• is a strong communicator and negotiator;
• is approachable and adaptable to ensure good interaction and collaboration as we are an international, diverse and inclusive business with people from all walks of life and backgrounds;
• is proactive and an all-rounder, able to take instructions and support others as well as working both independently and in close co-operation with co-workers around the world;
• resonates with IKEA values; and
• wants to work for a leading, global brand that is excited about the future and all the opportunities that lie ahead.
