An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented sustainability lawyer to join our Legal Affairs team, guiding and supporting activities across Tetra Pak’s businesses, especially in the development, sourcing and advocacy areas.
The Legal Affairs function is headed up by the Tetra Pak Group General Counsel who leads a global team of world class senior lawyers, patent and trademark attorneys and corporate governance and risk management professionals.
The position will be based in one of our major European locations (such as Lund, Sweden, Hochheim, Germany, Madrid, Spain, or Modena, Italy) but you will work in a global arena. You will report to the Senior Group Legal Counsel, Food and Product Safety and Sustainability.
What you will do
Advise stakeholders across the entire range of the business (development, sourcing, production, sales, and public affairs) on sustainability related topics, including recyclability, recycling, single use plastics requirements, extended producer responsibility, ethical sourcing, environmental protection as well as chemicals and other product related design and information transparency requirements.
Provide general legal, governance, and risk management support on a variety of business areas and compliance topics, including food and product safety law
Develop and support the continuous improvement of related policies, processes (including risk assessment), template agreements, notices, checklists and other tools
Train and develop business and legal colleagues in various legal and governance areas
Help to select, manage and develop external legal advisers
Facilitate close teamwork with other members of the Legal Affairs team as well as with specialists in various technology areas and other internal stakeholders
Who you are
You are a highly skilled professional with a law degree from a reputable university and a minimum of 5 years’ experience working for a leading law firm and/or in-house in a multinational business of comparable size or a relevant governmental or non-profit organisation. Extensive experience in packaging waste and single use plastics law, advising on recyclability, extended producer responsibility requirements and recycling targets, is a prerequisite. Experience in chemicals and/or food safety law would be an advantage.
You are fluent in English, both written and spoken, with excellent drafting and communication skills.
You are a driven, resourceful and quick self-starter with the ability to prioritize and manage senior stakeholder expectations.
You are a strategic thinker who can apply their intellect and creativity in providing sound risk assessments and innovative legal solutions. You are practical, persuasive and a team-player with the ability to collaborate at all levels and across divisions, geographies and cultures.
