Job Summary
The Legal Affairs function is headed up by the Tetra Pak Group General Counsel and Executive Vice President who leads a global team of world class senior lawyers, patent and trademark attorneys, corporate governance, risk management and export control professionals.
Promoting a low carbon circular economy relies on multi-stakeholder engagement across the value chain. With suppliers we adopt sustainable sourcing labels such as FSC™ for paper, Bonsucro for plant-based plastics, and ISCC and RSB for recycled plastics. We work with cutting edge innovation partners to develop packaging which is designed for recycling and to reduce littering. We invest in recycling technologies and increasing recycling capacity and engage in meaningful multi-stakeholder initiatives such as the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment. We are now looking for a Legal Counsel Sustainability to join our team, guiding and supporting activities across Tetra Pak’s businesses, especially in the recycling area. You will report to the Senior Legal Counsel, Sustainability and Product Compliance, who heads the Legal Affairs Sustainability and Product Compliance team.
The position is permanent and will be based in one of our major European locations (such as Lund, Sweden, Hochheim, Germany, Madrid, Spain, Modena, Italy, or Paris, France), with hybrid working conditions.
What you will do
As a Legal Counsel Sustainability, you will provide legal advice to stakeholders across the business on sustainability related topics, with a focus on our activities to promote recycling and circularity, including recycling projects and investment agreements, engagement via industry associations and packaging recovery organisations, extended producer responsibility, and markets for recycled materials.
Main responsibilities:
Provide general legal, governance, and risk management support on a variety of business areas and compliance topics with a focus on recycling and circularity topics.
Develop and support the continuous improvement of related policies, processes (including risk assessment), template agreements, notices, checklists and other tools.
Train and develop business and legal colleagues in various legal and governance areas.
Help to manage external advisers.
Facilitate close teamwork with other members of the Legal Affairs team as well as with specialists in various technology areas and other internal stakeholders.

We believe you have
You are a highly skilled professional with a law degree from a reputable university and a minimum of 3 years’ experience working for a leading law firm and/or in-house legal department in a multinational business or a relevant governmental or non-profit organisation in Europe. Experience in advising on European packaging waste and waste management projects and activities, extended producer responsibility requirements and recycling targets is a prerequisite. Experience in competition law would be an advantage. You are fluent in English, both written and spoken, with excellent drafting and communication skills.
You are a driven self-starter with the ability to prioritize and manage senior stakeholder expectations. You are a strategic thinker who can apply your intellect and creativity in providing sound risk assessments and innovative legal solutions. You are practical, persuasive and a team-player with the ability to collaborate at all levels and across our global and multicultural activities.
