Legal Counsel – Volvo Group Chief Digital Office

At Volvo Group Connected Solutions we lead the development of Volvo Group’s connected services and solutions of tomorrow. We work at the forefront of connectivity by collecting and analyzing data from over 1 300 000 customer vehicles and machines. Our solutions enable our customers to improve efficiency by leveraging vehicle data.


Role description


We are recruiting a Legal Counsel to provide global legal support to Digital & IT and Volvo Group Connected Solutions. You will monitor, assess, and handle legal and compliance risks within the area of digital transformation as well as designing, operating, and supporting customer-oriented connected solutions and services for Volvo Group products. You will work in close co-operation with the technical and business organizations. You will report to the Head of Legal & Compliance Chief Digital Office.


Key Responsibilities


You will play a key role in forming the Group’s strategic area of digitization, including the Group’s use of data and to navigate and align the Group around data legislations. You will provide high quality legal advice to the daily operations, including drafting and negotiating agreements, such as collaboration-, partnership-, development-, technology license- , IT-, joint venture- and M&A related agreements. You will also handle support with respect to data privacy and data security matters, IPR and open source. Furthermore, you will provide relevant trainings and supporting documents such as contract templates and guidelines to the organization.


Competence Profile & Qualifications


We believe you have a university degree in law and a 5-10 years’ work experience (from a law firm, as in-house legal counsel or equivalent) and you are fluent in English.


You probably have extensive experience in business/transaction management and solid knowledge within the legal fields of data and IPR. You have excellent analytical skills and proven ability to apply legal, business, technical and financial aspects in providing legal advice.


You are a strong communicator with great presentation skills, and you have a strong business acumen and gravitas in internal and external meetings, have extensive experience of providing advice to senior and top level management. International business experience and experience from software-, service-based and/or data-driven business is a merit.
