At Sandvik Machining Solutions (SMS), we have an exciting portfolio that holds some of the strongest brands in the market and, as a leading supplier in the global cutting tool industry, we’re proud to serve our customers with products and solutions for optimized productivity and profitability.
We’re now looking for a business-minded, experienced, and confident Legal M&A Counsel to strengthen our team. Welcome to a versatile position where you have the rare chance to work in a truly global setting, taking M&A transactions from the first initial contacts to the successful integration of newly acquired businesses, and to support the SMS M&A agenda. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at senior level who wants to refine their skills, expand their international experience, and develop a long-term relationship with the business. Does this sound exciting? Then we believe you’re the one we need for this position!
About the team
With an overall business strategy that aims for continuous development – both organically and through corporate acquisitions – our legal function plays a key role. We support the business in achieving objectives and driving growth by providing pragmatic legal advice and proactively assessing and mitigating risks. This requires accuracy, strong integrity, and solid business understanding, as well as proficiency across many legal and compliance disciplines.
About the job
In this position, you have the opportunity to practice your dedication to corporate and commercial law as you contribute to strategic transactions, investments, joint ventures, and various projects. You report directly to the Head of Legal M&A and, while you’re expected to take responsibility and ambitiously drive your own projects, you will have the support of experienced colleagues in the broader legal team and will work closely with external counsel. There will be opportunity to fine-tune and influence our M&A process based on your own experience and make a real impact. Our corporate culture is supportive, open and focused on development. We encourage discussion and value the ability to view things from a different perspective and to find alternative solutions.
The location for this position is Stockholm and occasional international travel may occur, depending on your situation.
Your background and character
We’re looking for someone with a Swedish Law degree (Jur. Kand) or an equivalent international law degree and with extensive experience of legal M&A work from a reputable business law firm. Additional experience within a corporate in-house legal organization is a plus. You have the legal experience needed to act independently and to find legally adequate solutions to various situations and you’re a seasoned project manager. Experience from competition law is also advantageous. As we act in a global setting, you need excellent communication skills in English, verbally and in writing.
Key for this role is your ability to gain trust – both by building long-term personal relationships and by offering advice and guidance based on legal experience, sound judgment and a thorough business understanding. Accordingly, we place great value on your personal qualities, characterized by your practical, analytical and decisive mindset. You’re also a true team player with a strong drive to get things done.
