Job Description
We are currently looking to add a Legal Policy Specialist to our team. This role is for a licensed lawyer/someone with a law degree and involves, among other things, researching legal and policy issues in jurisdictions worldwide, liaising with external counsel, drafting memos and policy proposals, and handling escalated, sometimes high profile, AUP issues.
Requirements:
· A legal background in the form of an LL.B. or LL.M..
· Incredible organizational and time management skills. This role involves handling multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously and executing to completion in a timely manner. You must be able to prioritize well, work efficiently, and demonstrate flexibility as workloads fluctuate with minimal supervision.
· A proactive approach to solving problems. This means you have a hunger to learn and are genuinely curious about the way things work, and have made "drawing the owl" your personal mantra. If you donʼt know something, you do your best to figure it out on your own.
· Superb research and analytical skills. This role involves researching sometimes obscure legal issues in countries around the world. You must be able to find applicable laws, translate legalese into plain language and apply your findings to the situation at hand.
· Exceptional written and oral communication skills. This means you have the ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences about extremely complex situations using plain language.
· Keen observation skills and a willingness to pitch in. This means youʼre a great team player. If you notice some of your teammates have been pulling crazy hours, you jump in to help ease the workload.
Bonus experience:
· Experience in European Union Law and regulations, as well a knowledge of EU institutions and the EU legislative process
· Experience in trust and safety or online content moderation
· Knowledge of the technology sector and online policy issues (e.g. online safety).
