WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
This is an exciting and completely new role at Liquid Swords with no legacy or old history attached!
As the Lighting Artist you will operate midway between Art and Tech being a true liaison between the two areas to enable a beautiful, well balanced, and performant atmosphere of the game world through lighting and shading. You will play a critical role expressing the emotional experience and the gameplay elements of the game. You will work with Art and Design to create compelling and dramatic photorealistic lighting scenarios for Gameplay, Time of Day, and Storytelling events.
The role is twofold: one part will be to match the established visual style for the game with lighting execution, the other part will be to establish and maintain pipelines and workflows, set up technical requirements, and manage performance.
Some of your responsibilities will be:
Working with Art to establish visual targets and Design to establish lighting that both supports and enhances the desired gameplay
Capturing the essence of the visual direction from a lighting perspective and making sure it translates from concept into the game
Having an eye for technical details to use the right lighting systems for the right purpose and to ensure that we consistently can achieve visual targets
Establishing workflows and best practice, including documentation
Evaluating different softwares, techniques and pipelines
Maintaining a balance between visual quality and performance requirements
Developing and implementing new techniques into the lighting pipeline
Joining our team now, means that you will be a part of creating video games history, working on the early concept of our next-generation action packed open-world experience.
You have an artistic eye for color and luminance and the ability to interpret reference and concept art
You understand the technical aspects of a real-time and PBR engine and have experience working within performance constraints
You know how to guide the player's eye and create unique identities and environmental storytelling through the use of lighting and color
You have high level of attention to details with strong problem-solving skills
Experience working with lighting software as found in for example Unreal or similar
If experience from film only, then appropriate titles would probably be Technical Art Director, CG Supervisor or similar
