Vehicle Service Information is the unit within Scania R&D that produces service information, spare part catalogues and diagnostic tools for Scania's service operations. The information is published online, in printed format and in various applications. The information is used by Scania's 1,600 workshops, 15,000 mechanics and 3,000 spare part managers all over the world.
Scania has a history of very good language and translation management. The terminology work is an integrated part of our R&D development work. Our translation work achieves significant cost savings thanks to well-maintained translation memories and cooperation with technically skilled translation suppliers.
To support requirements for even quicker time to market and effective use of available language technologies, we now need to strengthen our team. We are looking for someone to coordinate and lead the work together with our localisation managers, terminologists, developers, information producers, and translation and language tool suppliers.
Your work tasks
As a localisation engineer, you will primarily work with solutions for source language support, localisation and terminology on our technical platforms, and with the standardisation of processes associated with this.
A more specific list of tasks in the department's future planning includes:
• defining and implementing solutions for effective management of GUI texts
• connections between internal systems and translation suppliers' solutions
• managing tools for terminology and language review
• evaluating possible solutions for supplier-independent translation management
You will work in a product owner team of eight people working under flexible and multi-disciplinary management with a high degree of responsibility and influence.
Your profile
We think you are someone who sees the big picture and likes to get involved in the details. You communicate effectively with specialists and generalists and are used to leading meetings and workshops.
We are looking for proficiency with language technology and ideally for experience with the programming languages generally used for automation of continuous deliveries. We work with Acrolinx, Termweb, Windchill, Catalyst, Jenkins and GitLab among others. Experience of these or similar systems is important.
You should have a good understanding of systems and system development from experience or education at university level.
