Logistics Engineer - Local Transportation Control - Inbound logistics

The role, Logistics Engineer - Local Transportation Control, is located within the Transport Execution function and will report to the Manager of Local Transportation Control. The purpose of the Local Transportation Control function is to ensure inbound transportation execution for production material to plants, warehouses and consolidation centers, as well as outbound transport execution for production material to different plants. This function is critical to manage the timely shipping and arrival of production material on a daily basis.
Work hours includes 2 shifts operation, where you will work 6-14, 14-22 or regular hours every other week.
Main responsibilities
* Make time slot planning for inbound transports and send information to carriers in order to secure arrivals of parts to plants/warehouses
* Secure ETA for critical transports
* Lead bi-weekly meetings with plant operation Supply Chain Coordinators and Goods Reception
* Support the local processes for claiming missing and damaged goods
* Represent IBL at plant in transport related issues
* Carrier performances follow up. Act on deviation to maintain a high level of service
* Follow up that the Carrier is acting according to the commercial contract on regular basis
* Acting as a logistics project leader/sub project leader in different logistic projects within the area/plant
* Participating in projects concerning Goods Receiving and the Supply Chain Department
* Logg, communicate and follow up of items escalated to carrier management function
* Being the main communication mean and facilitator between the plant unit and central IBL
Required qualifications
* Proven knowledge and experience of transportation handling, preferably from inbound logistics and/or freight forwarding processes and/or air freight
* Knowledge of carriers operations
* An educational degree in logistics preferred
* Ability to quickly assess complex critical situations
* Proven abilities to perform well under pressure
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
Personal qualities
* Service minded
* Good communication and coordination skills
* Good ability to communicate and take action in case of unplanned situations.
* Understanding of complete material flows and value streams
* Project experience is preferred
