BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:

Cleaning area: The incumbent of this position is one in the team of 3 custodians and 1 custodian supervisor.The job duties involve cleaning of the US Embassy, a large building including four floors of offices, a basement, and the guardhouse in front of the Chancery.

Cleaning tasks: Daily duties include vacuuming all areas, emptying trash, mopping floors, and cleaning 18 restrooms.The incumbent is expected to periodically dust windowsills and blinds, empty ashtrays, wash windows, remove grease marks or fingerprints from painted surfaces, dust tops of tall furniture and other items not done daily.Occasional work involves cleaning Embassy houses when someone new arrives, moving of some easily movable items in order to vacuum more thoroughly underneath, spot waxing and polishing of floors as needed, and spot cleaning baseboards and walls.In some areas of the building, the cleaning force works independently.In other areas, they are escorted by an escort and, therefore, must be flexible in allowing the escort to handle other duties.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Completion of secondary school.At least six months cleaning experience is required.Must have basic proficiency of spoken Swedish and English.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

* This position is available to Swedish nationals or permanent legal residents as well as American citizens with permanent residence permits in Sweden, under the terms of the Rockefeller amendment authorizing Embassies to hire Americans abroad for FSN positions and Embassy American Family Members.

* Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

* Applicants are selected for appointment on the basis of education, experience, and suitability for the position to be filled.

* The selected applicant is subject to medical clearance and limited security investigation and clearance.
