The Engine Development department is the centre within Volvo CE development of engines and auxiliary components. The development responsibility consists of engine mechanical design, engine performance development and design of auxiliary components for the engines installed in Articulated Haulers, Excavators, Wheel Loaders and Road and Utility Machinery. The Engine Performance department is responsible for the optimisation of the engine and its subsystems regarding performance, emissions, fuel consumption, drivability and diagnosis. We are also responsible for all engine SW deliveries to Advanced Engineering, New Products and Product Maintenance. In order to strengthen the department?s competence and capacity to meet the future requirements we are now searching for a Machine Application Engineer. Job description: As a machine application engineer you will be responsible for the machine optimisation work. The work is performed in PC environment, engine test rig and complete machine. You will also be an important player in the performance design requirement dialogue with our Product Platforms. You will be working in close cooperation with our colleagues within the Engine Development department, the Product Platforms and Volvo Powertrain. Since the engine department works globally it is necessary that you have the possibility to travel all over the world. Engine related Machine Performance . Planning, performing and reporting results from engine test in test cells and machines . Delivery of driveability and other machine performance parameter settings. Parameters to be reviewed verified and well documented . Knowledge about how the machines are used and operated . High altitude and hot/cold climate functionality . Guided diagnostics. Responsibility includes specification and support to aftermarket Tools used: . ATI Vision . Matlab, Simulink . Version handling tools for datasets (e.g. PVCS and DMT) Education/Professional Qualifications required for the position: . University degree in Electronics, Mechatronics or Mechanics or extensive experiences within relevant areas . Documented experience in engine performance development . Deep understanding of calibration of engine and/or exhaust after treatment systems as well as regulators affecting drivability . Planning, coordination and communication . Good organizing skills Important Additional Requirements: . Deep understanding of electrical HW . Experience of embedded systems . High ability to plan and structure work . Experience of participating in global teams . Excellent spoken and written English . German language skills are beneficial . Travel up to 20%
