Assignment Description:
We are looking for a Senior Mainframe Developer to join our dynamic team.
What you will work on:
Develop, modify, and maintain COBOL-based applications on IBM mainframe platforms.
Design and implement solutions using DL/I and DB2 databases for efficient data storage and retrieval.
Integrate applications with MQ (Message Queue) for effective communication between different components.
Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into technical specifications.
Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in existing mainframe applications, ensuring optimal performance and functionality.
Perform unit testing and collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure high-quality software delivery.
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality and best practices.
Maintain documentation of code, technical specifications, and system configurations.
Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in mainframe technology to propose innovative solutions.
Ensure compliance with coding standards, security protocols, and data privacy regulations.
What you bring:
Proficiency in COBOL programming language, with a strong understanding of mainframe development.
Experience working with DL/I for hierarchical databases and DB2 for relational databases.
Familiarity with Message Queue (MQ) technology for asynchronous communication.
Hands-on experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining applications on IBM mainframe computers.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and best practices.
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to producing high-quality code and deliverables.
Effective communication skills to interact with business stakeholders and technical teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
