This is a high-impact role for a strategic leader with an interest in driving innovation in the FMCG industry sector.
As Manager Engineering Development at Swedish Match, you will be responsible for initiating, planning, and monitoring the development of new and innovative machines and technologies in close collaboration with various teams within our Product Development & Innovation organization as well as together with Operations and other part of the Swedish Match and PMI organization. We are increasing or ambitions to deliver new innovative products and also expanding geographically which requires gearing up our development plans and operation models.
You will lead a highly motivated and competent multidisciplinary team of automation engineers, production technicians and design engineers to develop cutting-edge machines, innovative technical features, and processes for future technology integration. The majority of our development is in-house but we see an increasing need of expanding our external development network to meet future needs. Your team manages the full lifecycle of technology development projects, from concept ideation to first machine. They also oversee the design, testing, and optimization of pilot equipment to ensure reliability, before handing over to Operations for implementation and scaling up in our factories.
Your ability to define executable strategies and plans together with your communication skills will be instrumental in shaping the long-term technology strategy and managing internal and external stakeholders. As Manager Engineering Development, you will be part of our Product Development & Innovation organization and member of the management team within the function Product & Technology Development. A key responsibility is to manage the technical development project portfolio and ensure progression vs plan, including budget, investment, resourcing, and personnel responsibility.
This position is based in Gothenburg, and you will reside in centrally located premises together with other functions within Product Development & Innovation and one of our factories.
Your profile
We are looking for a skilled technology innovation leader with a BSc or MSc in mechanical engineering or related field. You should have several years of experience from leadership roles in product development, preferably within FMCG industry sector or other similar industry such as food, pharmaceuticals, material development etc. Experience from working efficiently in international cross-functional projects, navigating complex organisations, and acting as a change leader is meritorious.
In this position you need to have the ability to define and execute strategic plans as well as being flexible and receptive to change. Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders is the key to success, therefore excellence in verbal and written presentations in both English and Swedish is a must.
