Northvolt and the Raw Materials team have two exciting opportunities to join our passionate team in Stockholm, Sweden, as Manager Raw Materials and Metals, tasked with commercial responsibility for the supply of strategic metals used in the production of cathode active materials. One role will focus on driving technical and commercial projects related to the purchase of Lithium compounds. The other role will focus on driving technical and commercial projects related to the purchase of metal salts and mixed metal products.
As part of the Raw Materials team, you will have direct influence over critical purchases of raw materials – a vital, dynamic role which can greatly contribute to the success of Northvolt’s rapidly-growing global operations. You will report to the Director of Cathode Raw Materials.
Ideal candidates will have commodities experience in Oil, Chemicals or Metals and will have worked with both technical and commercial projects in a capital-intensive industry. Candidates should possess a robust understanding of price risk management and have extensive, demonstrated negotiation experience in any commodities industry.
It is essential that candidates share Northvolt’s values on sustainability and responsible sourcing.
Key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Taking an active role in articulating and executing on our long-term raw materials strategy, and developing a supply base that fits Northvolt’s need in terms of quality, reliability, competitiveness, and sustainability
Working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to understand commercial opportunities, including cost reduction opportunities
Identifying, initiating, and negotiating new strategic supply relationships
Developing, owning, and executing a road map of projects aimed at optimising the cost and the supply flexibility of Northvolt’s raw materials purchases
Driving sustainability projects with suppliers to minimise Northvolt’s environmental footprint

Skills & Requirements
We believe that you have :
A Master’s degree in Engineering, Business/Commerce, or other relevant University Degree
7+ years working experience in chemicals/metals/commodities industries
Successful track record in technical and commercial/financial roles in the commodities industry
Strong technical and/or commercial background
Experience in multi-cultural environments
Experience and interest in the mining, refining, and manufacturing industries and/or start up environment is a plus
Excellent understanding of commercial drivers in commodities markets
Skills/Abilities:
Strong negotiation skills
Experience in strategic supplier development (such as Joint Ventures or localisations) is a plus
Highly organised with excellent time management skills
Ability to work in a high profile and often high-pressure international environment with tight deadlines
Excellent English written and oral skills; additional language is a plus
Comfortable to present and defend a project or a business case to top management
