Northvolt has an exciting job opportunity for a Manager Simulation to join our passionate team in Västerås.
In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories and contribute to the transformation to a carbon-free society.
Key responsibilities:
Conceptualize and Create 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for Cell components.
Correspond with lead design and process engineers to prepare manufacturing process drawings and work instructions for serial production.
Plan, organize, review and communicate reports from Cell testing activities.
Support in documentation and communication of technical requirements between customers, suppliers and Northolt's internal stakeholders.
Develop and simulate FE models (single, multi-physical) of Cell components to support theoretical validation.
Drive design improvement activities on Cell components and production process, based on functionality, safety, cost, ease of manufacturing, Industry regulations and Norms.
Support the validation team in setting up the boundary conditions for component level and cell level testing.
Optimize process/design based on cell geometry (L/D), thermal characteristics and other relevant parameters.
Co-ordinate with Battery System, Quality and purchasing teams for efficient integration of battery cells for end customer.
Education / Experience:
BSc, MSc or PhD degree within mechanical engineering is a must.
+3 years of mechanical design experience where part of the experience is in product development is a plus.
Experience in Siemens NX is required. Ansys or similar CAE simulation software is a plus.
Experience from the development and testing of secondary batteries, lithium-based technologies is preferable.
Excellent communication skills as you will be in constant interaction with international customers and team members from both the technical and business development side.
Recognize the risk of cell/battery development and production.
Strong Hands-On computer-aided design skills.
Preferably has the experience and has practiced electrode and cell design, electrode preparation process, cell fabrication and electrochemical performance evaluation.
Specific Skills / Abilities:
Excellent English both in written and oral skills. Swedish, Korean, Japanese or German is a plus!
Ability to work during high pressure with tight deadlines.
Strong organization skills and used to manage a range of activities simultaneously.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently.
