Saab Product Unit Countermeasures and Aircraft Systems (PU CAS) develops and manufactures qualified electronics, mechanics and software for various aircraft and helicopter applications. PU CAS forms part of Business Unit Electronic Warfare and Aircraft Systems in the Surveillance Business Area of Saab.

Our task within aircraft systems domain is to give the aerospace industry the systems they need to meet the challenges of safe, sustainable and efficient aviation. We develop safety critical aircraft and avionics systems such as computers, actuation systems, safety and awareness systems and fiber optic sensor systems for demanding environments for aircraft, helicopters and UAVs.

Engineering is responsible for engineering competences and have about 90 resources in a variety of areas, Software, Electronics, Power and PLD, Test Equipment, Qualification and Verification, Team management, Systems Engineering, Mechanics, ILS and Configuration Management. Other areas of responsibility are the Systems Development Processes, Methods and Tools (PM&T) where we have demanding requirements of cost-efficient and competitive development of high quality, safety critical applications.

Your skills and experience

* Appropriate professional or postgraduate qualification in a technical discipline.
* Strong business understanding and customer focus.
* Understanding and ability to work in an international environment and matrix organization.
* Skills to combine strategic thinking with operational actions.
* Proven ability and interest in leading, developing and challenging the organization, management teams and employees.
* Strong drive, perseverance and ability to generate energy.
* It is an advantage if you have experience of DO-178 or any other guidelines for safety critical software development.

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.

Your role

Your main task as Manager for Software Engineering will be to lead employees and manage competence development within the areas Software architecture, Software design and Software test. Process management, methods and tools for Software Engineering, e.g. way-of-working, compliance to standards and process effectiveness will be within your responsibility.

It is expected that you get involved in the business and help our projects to succeed. This will be done by e.g. matching the right profile and competence to the project needs, be part of quotes, meeting the customer, supporting the project in process tailoring, coach and support the project members within your domain and improving ways of working. You will have a close collaboration with other Engineering Managers, Product Managers and Project Managers among others.

The group consists of 22 employees with different areas of expertise within the embedded software domain. The group members spend most of their time working in our projects and you as the line manager have an important part in giving the group a sense of belonging, spreading experience and coach the employees.

You will report to the Head of Engineering and be a member of the Engineering Management Team.
