About us
Commodity Body Structure is a section within Manufacturing Engineering. We develop and implement quality assured, flexible and effective production systems in the Body shop plants. The section is working cross functionally & project oriented, supporting all Volvo Car Group´s Production Plants and car programs globally. Within the group Upperbody we are now looking for a new member working as a Manufacturing Engineer with main responsibility area of Mechanical- & CAD Tooling Design.
What you´ll do?
As a Manufacturing Engineer Body, you will be working during the complete Car program, from early phase to implementation in the plant(s). You will be a part of a commodity engineering team and you will contribute to prepare and implement products and manufacturing processes globally. As main responsible for the Mechanical and CAD Tolling Design, focus will be on:
Development, configuration & standardization of the “BIW Tooling Designer” toolbox for ME Body
Responsible and 1st point of contact for onboarding & training of CAD Engineers & external Suppliers.
Network and 1st point of contact to external CAD competence.
On demand, support with CATIA design investigations (model year changes, new concepts, early phases etc.)
Support & educate Supplier(s) with Volvo way of working (methods and tools)
Development of CAD methods and tools for Painted Body tooling Engineering.
What you will bring
The ideal candidate for this position would be a person with good practical and theoretical knowledge about 3D Fixture Design and a Mechatronic background preferably with previous experience in Bodyshop Tooling Designs. On top of that we see that you have experience and knowledge about working with 3D manufacturing IT tools. Main tools that are used are Siemens Process Simulate, NX design and Teamcenter.
You have a M.Sc. in Production or Mechanical Engineering or corresponding professional experience.
Other attributes which we put value on is good interpersonal and collaboration skills as well as being enthusiastic and customer focused. We believe that you are engaged in your work and encourage people that you interact with. You have a genuine willingness and ability to encourage progress and results. Ability to travel within and outside Europe is of big importance as this is part of the role.
Knowledge in Teamcenter and/or NX is meritorious but not a requirement as education will also be provided when a final candidate is selected to close the knowledge gap.
