Northvolt has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join our bold project team in Stockholm to support our Battery Systems division.
In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in enabling supply of the first large scale European battery systems. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society. We are continuously building a team of experienced Quality Engineers and great leaders with industry background.
You will be in charge of developing, defining and implementing the quality standards, procedures and documentation for Northvolt’s battery systems, reporting to the Director of Quality. You will also be responsible for reviewing quality in new designs and work with suppliers to follow-up and improve to ensure a flawless transition into manufacture and supply of our Battery Systems.
The Quality Engineer for battery systems will be an expert in quality management which includes deep knowledge in quality systems, quality process design, continuous improvement, quality control and assurance, process robustness and monitoring of quality performance etc. You will play an important role to lead and co-ordinate quality monitoring, collaborating with Northvolt Battery Systems organization as well as external suppliers, contractors and manufacturers.
In general, you have a long experience in quality management and have been driving large, innovative and challenging projects internally and with external partners in the area of quality, qualification, improvements, efficiency and optimization. Specifically, you have a deep understanding of working and cooperating cross-functionally in a multicultural environment with Business Development/Marketing, R&D, Production, Maintenance, IT and Automation.
The candidate should be analytical and logical with an ability to identify opportunities and improvements to drive increased quality through data driven approaches. The candidate should have strong technical abilities in order to succeed in this role.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Setting requirements for Manufacturing organisation to establish the required quality structure and documentation:
i.e. PFMEA's, drawings with relevant SC CC and associated quality control plans, process flow charts, MSA, in-process and EOL controls & inspections including relevant procedures and checklists
Set up quality monitoring procedures, evaluate performance and make improvement proposals
Oversee evaluation of performance, identify and drive improvement proposals, i.e. non-conformities, process capability; SPC and Cpk
Participate and input to quality gate reviews in the development and industrialisation phase of Product Development to ensure reliable, future manufacturing of products
Be part of equipment commissioning team and deliver acceptance testing and qualification milestones of new battery/ESS installations
Lead trouble shooting and root cause analysis activities in relation to con-conformities and quality issues, e.g 8D and non-conformity reporting
Collaborate with the after-market team to investigate quality issues in the field and lead root cause analyses and 8D investigations, reporting back to the customers
Expert in complex problem solving and process optimisation, i.e skilled in DMAIC and DoE, multivariate data analysis etc.
Collaborate closely with Customer projects to deliver required input, e.g. PPAP documentation, quality gates etc
Develop, implement and audit standard procedures and instructions
Facilitate establishment of DFMEA's and PFMEA's
Train production staff and support development of production documentation, e.g. SOP’s
Co-ordinate quality reviews and improvements from design phase through to manufacturing of products, e.g. review drawings, tolerances etc and loop back for improvement
Develop, implement and audit standard procedures and instructions
Developing, standardising and implementing digital training scheme and certification of staff to ensure right first time
Work across many parts of the organisation, collaborating with business development, technical, design and development teams, digitalisation and external partners
